What
is it about people that divides them to such an extent that they come to hate
one another? They will kill one another out of some kind of disagreement over
principles, money, passion and they do so without mercy and without end. I'm
sure that if the United States had not intervened in Bosnia, genocide would
have ruled the day without letup.
What
is it about Hitler Germany and Jews and Catholics and Protestants, the Hutus
and Tutsis, the communist government and the black Christian population in the
Sudan? What is this plague that has been going on for thousands of years? Why
do people do these things to each other? Is there no end to war, to divorce? It
appears that the motivating principle behind war and mayhem and slaughter is
identical to the one behind the never-ending battle of the sexes, the enmity
between men and women that so often ends in divorce. It manifests itself in
many forms and in many arenas but we see it at its most naked, worst in what
divides the man from the woman and the woman from the man in the ancient enmity
that exists between the sexes. This we must understand because here lays the
root of everything that is wrong with the world.
What
is this? You won't like what I'm about to tell you. I've told you before,
before, before and even before that and you can't hear it. There is an issue
here, a good and evil issue. There's no question about it. Now, what is this
evil? Are women evil? Are men evil? No! Men can't be evil, women can't be evil
and people can't be evil. Evil is a spirit. We can't even be good because good
is a spirit. We are chess pieces on the chessboard of life and we choose our
allegiances in accordance with something extremely subtle. The Bible has been
trying to tell us that for an extremely long time. Let me say this: there are
people who can hear and understand what I am about to tell you and through that
understanding change sides.
In
other words, you have evil acting through whatever is open to evil and some
people are change agents for this invisible, un-smell able, un-detectable
force. They refuse to see, you cannot make them, even through torture, admit
their allegiance to evil. They are devoted to the evil master they don't see as
an evil master but perhaps it functions covertly as the representative of evil
in someone they can elect as a dictator, a president, a drug pusher or a
spouse. They don't see the drug pusher or their "fiend" friends,
their peer pressure and the order, the smelly order of Hell on this earth; they
don't see this as it is. They see their allegiance as devotion and they are
devoted to their drink, their drugs, their crime, their criminal conspiracies,
the Mafia, their evil empires. They are devoted to those comforters with as
much devotion as you and I, God willing, can be devoted to good.
